Seriously, it doesn’t bother me when people smoke while driving, as long as they’re alone or their passengers are all of age and fine with it. But yeah, the world is not your ashtray. You’re already destroying your headliner with the smoke, so putting the butt in your ashtray won’t make the slightest difference to you.

I grew up on a farm and we frequently had to deal with grass fires started by idiots who tossed their cigarette butts into dry grass fields. I’ll never understand why this is considered acceptable.

That shit infuriates me.
They do not biodegrade quickly, i would prefer they get fined for throwing them on the ground - full littering ticket.

Same here. If you ever come to a stop with a curb to your left, there’s always a mountain of the things. It’s insane.

Who knows. I don’t get why people smoke in the first place. It’s just piss-poor judgment all around.

And smoking is disgusting to begin with. But I can’t believe how people don’t even think twice about throwing them on the ground.

“But a lot of modern cars don’t have ashtrays.”
Boo-hoo. Get one for your cupholder.
“But I don’t want the smell to affect the resale value of my car.”
There are ashtrays designed to help with that. Your precious retained resale value will more than cover the cost.

And the funny thing is the monetary commitment that comes with it.
I can’t possibly understand the massive amount of money literally lit on fire. The best is when some people I’ve known keep talking about how “broke” they are, but keep buying cigarettes.

When you buy a motorcycle, are you also required to take classes on vigilantism? Not to say that you should throw cigarettes out, but we always see videos of motorcyclists doing “the right thing” or teaching mouth breathing car drivers a “lesson.” How long before that guy throws a cigarette back into the wrong car? Not saying its wrong, but is some internet fame and the satisfaction of teaching a ne’er-do-well a lesson worth possibly landing yourself into the hospital, or worse?

If you’re going to throw it out, at least do it when there’s no bikes around.
Don’t say that! It doesn’t matter if there are bikes around or not. It’s littering, and that’s enough reason to clean up after yourself, without even having to talk about road hazards or the environment.

Butts are the least of it. I’ll grab a few pics of my daily commute. Beer bottles, cans, cups, unfinished dinners, water bottles, water bottles filled with urine, old tires even full household trash bags.
If we’re going to get all self righteous about butts we had better make sure everything else is perfect too.

actually, Mine do, i don’t use filters and roll my own, pretty much disintegrate within a day or 2. but since i drive a convertible i usually stop to have a smoke, put it out and throw it in the trash. but I will agree that it is a expensive bad disgusting habit. And throwing it out the window in a dry area is just stupid, that is why i like Cali’s laws about being fined if you are caught throwing the butt out the window. I will admit, when it is raining and the top is up I have tossed it out the window, but with the rain it will degrade to nothing in a couple hours.

Smokers are typically selfish, self-important assholes. I wish cigarettes were more toxic. The smart ones would probably quit. The others would die faster.

I liked the video until he started talking. I have not seen a sportbike helmet vlog video I can sit all the way through yet.
However, I did listen long enough to hear this.
If you’re going to throw your cigarette out, at least don’t do it in front of motorcycle
Dude’s dreaming. We have enough of a hard time being seen while we are in FRONT of them.

They aren’t so good for the environment either.
“ Toxicity of cigarette butts, and their chemical components, to marine and freshwater fish. ” Slaughter, et.al.
“ Cigarettes Butts and the Case for an Environmental Policy on Hazardous Cigarette Waste. ” Novotney, et.al.

Let’s be a pretentious dick to another person to correct their because that would totally change their behavior. /s
I think it’s wrong what she did, but that approach doesn’t fix any thing.

If that’s their argument, they already ruined the resale value by smoking in their car in the first place.

I’m not a smoker.
“popcorn lung”* is very rare. the alternative, smoking actually cigarettes, have a higher probability of producing symptoms more common and much worse, for the smoker and second hand.

That video should have ended way sooner. His rant about the threat of throwing a cigarette out the window killing a motorcyclist felt off base. Complete freak thing. But still, people who litter are trash ha

I grew up in Canada. We constantly have to deal with idiots starting forest fires with cigarette butts. One fire burned down most of the town of Barriere BC and another one currently burning (although it's start location was not near any roads) is currently the size of Prince Edward Island.

The self-righteous, holier-than-thou in full effect today. Addiction is a mother fucker. Period. I’ve been an on-again-off-again smoker for a decade. My longest clean stretch was 3 years. I’m not going to advocate tossing butts into non-butt receptacles, but some of the shit being said in this thread is insane. I’m very glad that you guys have never experienced the struggles with addiction, and I hope you never do. But, mother fucker, are you guys saying some vicious shit. No family members in AA? NA? Hate don’t fix shit.

Popcorn lung was caused by an oil-based flavoring. The juice manufacturers no longer use it, since it’s pretty easy to use something else.

(Disclaimer- I’ve got no real aversion to e cigarettes; they have their place and are a million times better than normal cigarettes. It’s just an easy joke to make, and I’m still sour that the mouth breathing apes at my school got all the toilets permanently locked because of these things)
